Harry had inherited many things from his father.

Even those who met Harry for the first time would notice the similarities. “You look just like your father,” would usually be the first words out of their mouths.

And you couldn’t blame them, really. Harry shared James’s messy black hair, lean stature, and poor eyesight. They both were Sorted into Gryffindor House, played for the Gryffindor Quidditch team, and despised the Dark Arts.

“Hey, you.”

Harry turned to see Ginny walking towards him, her eyes red, but otherwise composed. The sight of her made Harry happier than he had felt in a long while.

He walked away from Dumbledore’s old office and gave her a tight hug, which she returned with much vigor.

“I’m so glad you’re alive,” she said into his shoulder. “When I saw Hagrid carrying you out of the forest, I ─”

“Yeah,” Harry said consolingly, taking in the flowery scent of her gorgeous red hair. “I know.”

They stood there, just hugging, for what seemed like ages. In the prior months, everything had been so rushed. Everything had been about finding and destroying Horcruxes. Everything had rested on getting jobs done quickly and efficiently.

Now that Voldemort had perished once and for all, an overwhelming calm had permeated the castle. Now, Harry could take his time, for the first time in his life. And he relished in that feeling of not having a deadline.

Eventually, Ginny pulled away, leaving damp spots on Harry’s shirt where her tears had fallen. Harry gazed into her cinnamon brown eyes, and forgot how to breathe temporarily. He had not realized how much he missed her these past months until that moment, and he had the sudden urge to kiss her.

Not ever being one to resist indulging his impulses, Harry leaned down and kissed Ginny’s lips. He was in heaven; the feel of her lips on his was incredible, only to be topped by the feel of her tongue running up and down his. He moaned into Ginny’s mouth, letting a wave of complete pleasure wash over him.

Harry broke away from the kiss and leaned his forehead against Ginny’s.

“I love you,” he said.

“Tell me something I don’t know,” said Ginny, giggling, and she leaned in to continue their kiss.

Harry had inherited many things from his father, the newest of which was his love for fiery-tempered redheads.
A continuation off the end of DH, but before the Epilogue.

H/G isn't my favorite pairing, but this story was just begging to be written. Hope you like it!

I always thought that was funny - the liking red-heads thing. I think we were all completely cheated by not having a scene like this in Deathly Hallows. I'm hoping they add one for the movie. They probably will.
